BOOTS & STRIPE'S PUPPIES
INTRODUCTION:

These fascinating puppies were born on December 22, 2009, and will be ready to go to their new homes on February 16, 2010. They were only a few days old when the solitary girl pup was sold!

THE PARENTS:

BOOTS is a beautifully-marked American cream piebald smooth-coat. We were trying to fill an order for a wheaten (gold-colored) wirehair female puppy, breeding her to STRIPE, but his darker coloring won out.

STRIPE is a wheaten brindle wirehair, but you don't ever see his gold coloring except when his hair has been clipped almost to his hide! The brindle striping, combined with his erstwhile cream base-color, comes out dark gray, and it overwhelms his wheaten background. Wirehairs have their own color names - wheaten, instead of cream, wild boar (every hair has several color zones), etc. Having been bred from wirehaired terriers and pincers, they are almost a breed apart from other dachshunds - but that only makes them all the more special!

The parents' photos are displayed below their offspring's descriptions.

THE PUPPIES:

PUPPY #1 is the only girl, and at her new home! Here's a note from her new mommy:

"Hi Becky, We made a safe trip back with Maggie Mae. She has adjusted very well to her new home. She only had one accident in potty training she used the puppy training pad you gave us the first day and has continued to use them, pretty smart for an 8 week old . She also comes to her name and has mastered the command sit in just the 3 days we have owned her. She is a great puppy and some what of a clown, she loves all her stuffed animals. ...
I definitely will keep you up to date with Maggie. She has got to be the smartest puppy I have ever owned or seen. She is completely (only had two accidents when we brought her home) potty trained. Yesterday she whined at the door to go out. I did not teach her that she just did it. It was the first time outside the first nice day we have had. Today she did the same. She only chews on her toys, has no interest in any furniture. She knows come, sit, lay down and leave it command. My husband has taught her to bark at him when he comes home, that's his command for her to play with him. She has so much personality. She is an unbelievable little clown. She will be going to puppy class at Petsmart on Tuesday for socialization. I bet she'll be the smartest one there. I'll let you know how her class goes.
Thanks for a great dachshund. Marilyn

P.S She also crate trained herself - it's her favorite place to be along with sleeping on her comfy dog bed. SOME PUPPY:)"

PUPPY #2 is a red brindle wirehair boy, the smallest pup in the litter, with somewhat more of his mother's leaner doxie structure. He's a deep red, tiger-striped with black, with a hint of golden-red on his face and paws - it's hard to see in these photos, but he is getting lighter as he gets older. He's handsome! His price is set at a mere $350 (plus $50 for AKC registration) - a steal for a wirehair, since there aren't as many breeders producing wirehairs as smooth and longhaired dachshunds. We only have a few, ourselves, so if you've been waiting for one to come along, here's your chance!
PUPPY #3 is a black & tan wirehaired boy, as big as sister, or a little bigger - he's going to be a doxie to reckon with! All doxies were bred to be hunters, strong enough to wrestle badgers, foxes, weasels and other vicious game, but the wirehairs have taken that breeding to a pinnacle unmatched by their other cousins. They are still as friendly and loving as the rest of the clan, but they are supreme and fearless hunters, first and foremost. Some people class wires as the clowns of the dachshund breed, and they can be wonderfully funny - we had one that wrestled the Shop-Vac every time we cleaned the kennel! He made housework HILARIOUS fun! Buy this boy and see what I mean - he is only $350, with AKC registration for another $50, should you wish to breed or show him.

MOTHER:

Flicks By By Ms American Pi, or Boots, is a slender and beautiful lady (when she isn't pregnant, as she was in this photo!). She is an American cream piebald smoothcoat, and a great producer of great puppies.
FATHER:

Flicks Earning My Stripes is NOT slender, but he's not fat, either! He's heavily muscled and as solidly built as the proverbial brick outhouse. Stripe is pretty quiet by nature, and has been successful in the show-ring, winning his classes.

I chose this photo of Stripe with Dani, to compare him with another wirehair - he's very shaggy unless clipped, and he HAD been trimmed before this shot. He's also bigger and more solid than any other wire we have. (Our two other males probably fall into the "rabbit"-size category; they're very small.)

I'M ON HOLD!!!
