INTRODUCTION:
For a  miniature dachshund to fill her very first nest with a litter of EIGHT is a WOOHOO!! moment, a memorable event, and that's just what happened here! We circled November 25, 2011 on our calendar - the day after Thanksgiving, and a month before Christmas - as their birthday, and then we circled January 20, 2012 as the day they could all go to their new homes. These are all beautiful longhair pups, in all sorts of shades of red, from light to dark. With two cream parents, we had hoped for creams. Oh well......................

MOTHER:
Flicks Marilyn Misfit Monroe was named that because she's the blonde-from-birth daughter of two apparently black & tan dogs, which should not have produced a cream offspring.
(You shouldn't get a red pup from two black parents, because of gene-dominance, so one parent had to actually be red, as her mother proved to be.) Flicks Glossy Princess was three years old when Marilyn was born and had always looked black, so there was much consternation when she had a cream pup, but THEN we discovered Princess was really a red sable!  Both of Marilyn's parents are carrying a dilute gene and both generously donated it to her - all the other pups in her birth-litter were black & tan. Marilyn stuck out in that bunch like a sore thumb, quite the 'misfit' - but we decided to keep her (to make cream puppies), and boy, we're sure glad we did, even if she didn't - make cream puppies!

FATHER:
Sergio Cream of the Crop is a beautiful spun-gold dachshund of the English cream persuasion - most of his pedigreed family are either Conformation Champions or Field Champions, if not both - they're beautiful AND they hunt, which was the original purpose of the dachshund breed.

So, here we go - SIX beautiful longhaired red dachshunds - we're keeping #1, and #8 has already gone to his new home in La Junta! Pick your pup now, or visit and let your pup pick you - but come and see all of them - you will fall in love! As pretty as these are, and already old enough to go home, please don't wait too long!

REMEMBER - YOUR DEPOSIT (OR PRE-PAYMENT IN FULL) HOLDS YOUR PUP FOR YOU UNTIL YOU PICK IT UP.  IF YOU CHANGE YOUR MIND, YOU MAY TRANSFER THE DEPOSIT TO ANOTHER PUP, BUT WE DO NOT REFUND DEPOSITS.

THE PUPPIES:
MARILYN & SERGIO'S PUPS
Flickennel - Dachshunds with ALTITUDE!!!
PUPPY #1 is the smallest in the litter, and a real beauty - we fell in love with her, and she will fit wonderfully in our breeding program. You can't have her! She also has the trait called "masking," where her muzzle is black. It's not very common in dachshunds, and we've seen very few of them - there's a photo of one of ours in Lisa Emerson's book on doxie colors, coats and patterns - but her #7 brother also has it.

PUPPY #2 is a lovely redhead (all over!) and is developing the wonderfully soft coat that is one of the hallmarks of the English cream dachshunds. Another is their amazing laid-back disposition, unlike the zippy habit of most of the dachshunds we know and love. This little Maureen O'Hara look-alike is priced at $500, or if you desire her with AKC registration, her total is $550.
HINT: Compare the way all of these pups look in relation to the little red wagon - size-wise - to gauge which ones are bigger or smaller.
Puppy #1 is smallest, while #7 is largest - he'll be a "tweenie" - the rest are minis.

PUPPY #3 is a lighter red than her sisters above, but she's still gorgeous! "Cream" is merely a "diluted" or lighter form of red, but is caused by specific genes that affect the coat color of the dog. There's a whole lot of scientific lingo about the genetics involved - get Lisa Emerson's book if you really want to research it in depth - but this puppy won't give a yip about it! She just wants you to love and adore her! (She can't hold her licker, though - it keeps sticking out!) She's likewise priced at $500, or $550 with full registration.
PUPPY #4 is also a light-red longhair, pretty as a picture, but much lovelier in person! You can't imagine how loving these young dogs are, until you come and visit them, hold and play with them for a while. I've always said we have the very best job in the world - and we work for puppy-kisses! Where else could we play with our puppies all day?! This sweetie is also priced at $550 with full registration, or $500 without.
PUPPY #5 is the last of our girls, and another beautiful light-red. It's entirely possible that these pups of two cream parents could wind up cream themselves - reds sometimes change for up to a year before they stabilize into their adult color. Take this baby home as is for only $500, or request her full AKC registration for $50 more - she looks like she has enough attitude to be happy either way!
PUPPY #6 is our smaller boy, and what a cutie he is! Don't get me wrong - he knows how to rough n' tumble with his pals, but he also knows how to snuggle and cuddle and be the most loveable fella you'll ever meet. He can be your new best buddy for only $400, or $450 if you'd like him registered.
PUPPY #7 is the big boy of the bunch. If you prefer your dachshund to be a little bigger than the average miniature, here's the one for you! "Miniature" officially tops out at 11 lbs at maturity; "standard" is 16-32 lbs, so that leaves an in-between range that most doxie fanciers call "tweenie." The Dachshund Club of America prefers "small standard" as the designation for them. Our tweenies don't care one way or the other - they're always amenable! We figure they're just more dachshund to love! This handsome longhair also comes with the uncommon "masked" pattern of the black muzzle shown off by his little #1 sister.
MOTHER:

Flicks Marilyn Misfit Monroe ML has been a lovely golden color since she was born, and we had hoped to get "clear creams" from this breeding, but our expert says it's not too likely. We'll just have to find another Mr. Wonderful to father her next litter and see what she gives us! Blending different dilutes produces amazing shades of "blush," and red with blue markings, as we had in Taffy & Blue's litter. We only started experimenting with mixed-dilute breedings (blending pairs of cream, isabella or blue) in the last year or two, and are quite amazed and impressed with the results - they make outstandingly beautiful offspring. So, since Marilyn is a dilute red (a.k.a. cream), we'll probably put her with either a blue or isabella.... Keep your eye out for that litter, too!
FATHER:

Sergio Cream of the Crop ML is of the genotype that most dachshund breeders call "English cream," but our expert says that unless the dog was BRED in England, it's only another cream.... Be that as it may, a different gene causes this kind of cream than the one that causes "American cream," so we prefer to use those designations. All English creams must be able to trace their ancestry back TO England - they were first imported to America in the 1980s. Sergio's pedigree is full of champions in both the Field and Conformation classifications - it reads like a canine "Who's Who"! You can tell by looking at all of his pups, that he brings a wealth of high-caliber genetics to the mating. We've been very pleased with them.
