RHONDA & TOBY'S PUP
Flickennel - Dachshunds with ALTITUDE!!!
INTRODUCTION:

This litter consists of only one pup, born November 16th, and ready to go home on January 11th. She's a wirehaired liver-nosed red dapple with a few dark spots, who carries Dad's chocolate gene and is the apple of her mama's eye. Our mothers are all proud of their babies, but when they only have one to care for, they get to concentrate all their love on that one, and it's all we can do to pry them apart so Mom can go outside while WE get to love on it! This little sweetie is priced at $500, or $550 with full AKC registration.
MOTHER:

Flicks Rosie Red Rhonda Von Randy MS - her name is bigger than she is! Little Rhonda is a light creamy red (her dad is Randy, a smooth American cream piebald), with the large eyes often associated with an English cream, but she's not one bit a Brit - she's an American German!    ;-)    Her black nose shows she probably does NOT carry chocolate, but Toby's is brown and he IS chocolate, so that's where their daughter got hers. Come to think of it, the baby is probably also carrying Randy's dilute gene, and possibly one from Toby, too.

This is Rhonda's very first litter, and we look forward to having some beautiful, smooth red pups from her. The camera worked on this picture - Rhonda is the same color as her daughter, above.
FATHER:

Premiers Mr. Tobias MW is a VERY miniature wirehair wrapped in fluffy, soft hair that's so much fun to cuddle, it should be wrong - but we're glad it's not, and so is he! His papers say he's a chocolate & tan dapple, but he's so pale, he looks like an isabella dapple. Whichever, he makes wonderful babies. We fell in love with his fearless son of a couple years ago, named Captain Chenille, who did daily battle with our Shop-Vac as we cleaned the kennel - what a riot! We laughed ourselves silly, watching him attack the tip of the hose as it moved across the floor.

Toby's mother was a champion smoothcoat, so he usually produces wire babies only when he's bred to a wirehair; anything else, and he gives us smoothies. EXCEPT THIS BABY WIRE GIRL!!!

According to our dachshund genetics-expert friend, Lisa Emerson, if a red and a chocolate are bred together, the result is often "blush," a shade that's neither red nor chocolate, but has characteristics of both. Hence this girl's chocolate nose and nails, and reddish-brownish coat color. She's unique among all the wirehairs we've ever produced! Breed her to a chocolate sire, and you'll get chocolate pups.
