AVAILABLE PUPPIES

Flickennel - Colorado Dachshunds with ALTITUDE!

Welcome to our nursery! This is where you will find our litters of available puppies, listed by their parents' names, with the mother's name first, descriptions and PayPal buttons so you can place a $500 deposit on a puppy, or pay for it in full. We do not reserve puppies with just a verbal request without a financial commitment on your part, and we do not refund deposits, but we will happily transfer your deposit to another available puppy of your choosing, or hold it for one in a future litter. We highly recommend that you DO put a deposit on the pup you want, BEFORE you leave home to come see it. As long as its PayPal button remains active, someone else can use it to buy the pup - it's immediately deactivated upon being used. We've had people come, buy with cash and take a pup home, then found out it had simultaneously been sold online - so we had to refund the online buyer's money. When you buy from the website, please call and let us know so we don't inadvertently sell it to someone else at the same time!

If we don't already have the puppy you'd like to have, you may send a deposit to flickennel@hotmail.com through PayPal for $500 (plus $20 PayPal fee) and a note that it's for your preferred gender, coat, color and pattern, and we'll do our best to produce that particular pup for you. If you'd rather, you may send a $5oo cashier's check made to Janet Flick, with a filled-out copy of our contract, to our address printed on it. We do take requests - just call us Build a Dachshund 4 Me! We have the raw materials and know-how to do it!

PLEASE read our contract BEFORE you send money, making sure you understand and agree to ALL of the terms because your payment implies that you do and agree to be bound by it, whether you have signed a physical contract yet or not. If you wish, you may print the contract, complete your information and the information about the pup you want, then mail it to us with a copy of your driver's license.

Just a caution: We're pretty picky about who takes our babies home, and have terminated more than one sale-in-progress because the prospective buyer wasn't exactly the type we wanted for our puppies, or we suspected that the home environment could be dangerous for our pup. We don't mean to be rude, selfish or cruel, but if something doesn't feel or sound quite right to us, it usually isn't. Our puppies deserve the very best people and homes we can find for them! We also won't stick YOU with a pup that isn't suitable, healthwise, for adoption and will withdraw it/stop its sale as soon as we discover the situation. We try to be above-board at all times, but some defects (such as bite deformities), and wirehair coats, only appear as the pup develops, not at birth or in the first few weeks.

The PayPal button for each pup has a drop-down menu of payment options, including:

    1. $500 deposit + $20 PayPal fee,

    2. the balance payment after the deposit + PayPal fee ($4/$100),

    3. payment in full + PayPal fee ($4/$100).

Each pup is individually priced, and any Scratch & Dent pup (kinked tail, under/over-bite, etc.) will NOT have AKC papers offered; otherwise, all pups do qualify for AKC registration. We only do FULL AKC registration, not limited, so it's all or nothing, and breeding rights are included in full registration. We do not confine our buyers to spay/neuter contracts, either.

We offer a 10% discount to active-duty, reserves, veterans, and retired military, or a 10% discount to senior citizens (65 and older), each with suitable identification (current driver's license, military ID, and/or DD214). The discount does not apply if you are buying a pup FOR someone who would qualify for it if THEY were buying the pup, such as a non-senior buying a gift pup for their elderly parents. The ID and discount apply only to the buyer, not to the intended recipient. It also does not apply to first-responders, or anyone else - not that we don't love them, too; we have to cut it off somewhere, else what's the point?

ONLY ONE DISCOUNT APPLIES PER PUPPY, and if the pup is listed as discounted already, as with a Scratch & Dent puppy, Adoptable Adult, or during a sale, NO OTHER discount will apply!

Male pups are priced starting at $1700, females at $1800, with English creams and spectacular Cash Clan dapples priced starting at $2300 and $2400, respectively, with clear creams (no black or chocolate hairs) and offspring of Harry and/or Meghan, our English imports and their offspring's babies, starting at $2600 and $2700, unless the buyer qualifies for one of our 10% discounts - senior citizen, or military. If full AKC registration is desired, it is another $150, and the discount does not include the AKC amount, just the base price of the pup. Deposits are non-refundable, and count toward the final purchase price of the pup you eventually buy. Any ensuing payments of the balance amount made through PayPal shall include $4 per $100 of the payment, for the PayPal fee.

PAYPAL has TWO methods of payment you may use! When you click on the button for the puppy you want, you may use one of the payment options we list, and immediately pay in full for that option (deposit, balance, or pay in full). Or, when the button takes you to paypal.com, you may use their new interest-free PAYPAL CREDIT to pay for your puppy - at YOUR rate of payment. We get paid up-front by PayPal, and you have up to six months to complete your payment to PayPal - interest-free! What a deal! (We inquired about PayPal's "Pay in 4" plan, but it won't work with our website - sorry.)

If you would rather send your deposit through PayPal, for a
currently unborn puppy, please use this REUSABLE button,

and let us know what sort of puppy you would like to have!

Mail the signed contract and cashier's check to the address at the top of it. If you pay through PayPal, please email us your scanned contract, or call 719-783-2955 and let us know! PayPal used to notify us, but have stopped that practice, so we're in the dark whenever anyone sends money, unless he/she lets us know - we try to check our email throughout the day, but don't always have time. We'd hate to promise your new pup to someone else because we didn't know you'd made your deposit!

If you would rather adopt an older dog, please let us know which gender and any other particulars you would prefer. That way, Janet can keep you in mind when she chooses the dogs to retire. Sometimes we have a younger male or female that simply doesn't pan-out as a breeder, or a mom has a bad c-section and has to be spayed as a result, so you could wind up with a younger adult. Adoptable Adults vary in price, depending on age and other factors, so you'll just have to make your wishes known to us in an email, then wait until we have one ready to retire to your lap so we can let you know its price. They're almost always FAR cheaper than a puppy.

Ready dates are when the litter is 10 weeks old and has had ALL their puppy shots (except rabies, which is given no earlier than 12 weeks). No puppy will be released until their ready-date, so please do not ask to have yours early. Our pick-up hours are by appointment only from 10:00 - noon daily - NO WALK-INS. Please call or email to make your appointment: the phone number is 719-783-2955, and the email is flickennel@hotmail.com.

WE ARE NOT SHIPPING PUPS OR ADULT DOGS AT THIS TIME, AS NONE OF THE AIRLINES ALLOW IT, DUE BOTH TO COVID-19 AND WEATHER CONDITIONS. THEY WILL NOT SHIP WHEN IT'S EITHER TOO COLD OR TOO HOT. IF YOU CAN'T MAKE THE TRIP YOURSELF, THERE ARE PET-ESCORT COMPANIES THAT WILL HAND-CARRY YOUR PUP FOR A FEE, BUT YOU MAKE ALL THE ARRANGEMENTS WITH THEM AND COORDINATE MEETING TIMES WITH JANET AT THE KENNEL. ANY AND ALL TRANSPORT WILL BE DONE AT BUYER'S EXPENSE. If you are driving to pick up your pup, check out our Driving Directions page!

Pups are numbered within their litter: 1F, 3M, etc. with their description. F= female, M = male, SM = smooth, LH = longhair, WH = wirehair. When writing to ask about a specific pup, please also give the parents' names so we know which "2F" or "4M" you're referring to!

We currently have the following deposits awaiting fulfillment, and they take precedence whenever the appropriate puppies are born. DEPOSITORS: IT'S UP TO YOU TO KEEP CHECKING THIS PAGE FOR NEW LITTERS AND CHOOSE YOUR PUP FROM THEM. IF YOU FIND ONE MORE APPEALING THAN WHAT YOU ORIGINALLY WANTED, LET US KNOW SO WE CAN PUT YOUR NAME ON IT AND REMOVE THE FIRST OPTION FROM YOUR NAME ON THIS LIST!!! One more thing - PLEASE BE AS SPECIFIC AS YOU CAN when telling us what you want, like these folks below - it's easier to fill your order if we know what you want!  Thank you!

2019 Lisa D. - deposit on a standard-size female

5/30/20 Kathryn T. - deposit on a dappled/reverse-dappled Cash Clan female

3/26/21 Linda M. - deposit on a black & tan longhair male or female

When you pay for your puppy, PLEASE call or email and let us know - PayPal used to, but has stopped doing that.

THIS SEPARATE button is for optional AKC registration on the pup of your choice. Just make sure your pup is NOT a Scratch & Dent pup disqualified from having full AKC registration. This button is reusable, so buy your pup with its button, and use THIS one if you want it registered with the American Kennel Club. The AKC fee is completely separate from the purchase amount and is not included in any discount.

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE YOU EVEN LOOK AT OUR PUPPIES!

Nearly everyone asks if they can come and visit their puppies, or visit and shop among all the available pups and any retiring adults. We would like nothing more than to allow everyone to visit, the way we USED to do, but with Covid, our own common sense (from over 50 years of experience), and what the State of Colorado wants us to do regarding biosecurity (safeguarding the dogs, and particularly the pups), we CANNOT allow visits before the pups are at least eight weeks old and have had two vaccinations - and they go home in two more weeks, so why make two trips so close together, especially if you live more than 50 miles away?

Please trust us - we're not scam-artists, have nothing to hide, or anything like that - it's solely to safeguard everyone - the puppies, our staff, and our buyers. It's not fun to lose puppies when it could have been prevented. We've had it happen in the past, so we're following all the safety precautions we can. We hope everyone can understand that - so far, they have, and we hope it continues. We greatly appreciate your patience!

In the meantime, we will attempt to keep pictures on the Available Puppies page so you can watch your puppy grow up. Picture-taking can be an all-day-long project: taking dozens, even hundreds, of photos - hoping to get a few GOOD clear shots; offloading them to Janet's computer, where she weeds out the blurry and partial shots, edits the good ones, then emails them to Becky (me). I sort them into litter and individual puppy files, assign identifying names to each photo, then upload them to the website. We who have done this for years, know exactly why professional photographers charge so much money for doing portraits! It's definitely not a hurry-up operation!

FULL AKC ON MY PUP

Don't need a puppy? Check out our Adoptable Adults!

Unless noted otherwise, the adult dogs below are not for sale.

BORN 4-26, READY TO GO HOME  7-5 - HOLLY & BOSTON
THE PARENTS:

HOLLY is a gorgeous young English cream longhair who came from another breeder, and is giving us some stunning puppies. We didn't know if she carried chocolate or piebald, so we bred her to BOSTON, a smooth chocolate & cream piebald. Her cream (a dilute form of red) dominated over his chocolate - so she doesn't carry that - and gave us this lovely light-red pie and two sisters we're keeping. One of them is clear-cream; the other is black & cream - not pies, themselves, but they carry pie and chocolate because their dad is. This pup is a piebald, so Holly carries it, too - it takes both parents having the pie gene to make a fully piebald pup.

BOSTON

3F light-red piebald smoothcoat, carrying chocolate.

$1800, with optional full AKC registration for $150 - please use the purple AKC PayPal button above, for that.

Adopted by Darren B. & going to Littleton to join an older 4-legger 'brother & sister' and three 2-legger sisters! That's a lot of legs!!!

BORN 4-18, READY TO GO HOME  6-27 - GINGER & CHEERY
THE PARENTS:

GINGER is a smooth red brindle first-time mom who took to it like the proverbial duck to water. CHEERY, also smooth red, is a first-time father, and it seems as though he enjoys that, too. Ginger is a daughter of Jackie (smooth red) & Slinky (smooth black & tan brindle), while Cheery is out of Sunset & Cupid - both red brindles, but Sunset's a longhair with some English cream ancestry, and Cupid is smooth - but he's also masked, piebald, and carries cream! Cheery is somewhat of an anomaly, because brindle is a very dominant pattern, only requiring one brindle parent to produce brindle - two brindle parents almost guarantees the pups will be brindle, yet he's not, and neither are these pups.

Note from the new owners: "Our family loves ice cream, and our favorite flavor is a gelato called “stracciatella.” The girls decided the puppy looks just like the gelato, and think it’s a great name. It’s a bit of a mouthful, so we are going to call her “Stella” for short. . . . We can’t wait to pick her up in July, everyone is counting the days."
