Hi there! I wanted to take the time to tell you how much we love our dachshund Bentley! We just got him on Monday [2-23-15], and he already fits right in. He's cuddled up on my lap right now as I type this. Bentley is so well behaved. We had to drive three hours to get home, and he slept the entire way. When we got home he instantly loved our basset hound Bella! He already goes outside to potty, and cries when he has to go. We are calling him the wonder dog because he's such a good boy. His temperament is amazing, and he has the cutest personality ever! He likes to prance around in the snow, and he's so fun to watch. We are pleased to say he is a happy and healthy little guy!
We're amazed with Bentley. He sleeps all night, and doesn't make a peep! Over all he's truly the perfect pup for us! It's fun to watch him play, and enjoy life! He also loves to cuddle, it's so cute! I want to thank you for Bentley!! He's one of the best decisions we've ever made. We would like to train him to be a service dog. I know his laid back spirit would be perfect for the job!
Bentley's brought us so much joy already, and we want others to experience that as well. I'm so proud to call him mine.
THANK YOU!!!
Missy, Shellie, Doug, and Bentley!
Thank you Janet for the invitation to visit your kennel. I was so pleased with your operation. The dogs were all exceptionally sweet and balanced with wonderful temperaments. Beautiful, beautiful dogs and all so very clean, healthy and enthusiastic little tail waggers! Lots of happy yipping for joy. Well done! Congratulations! Your hard work is evident. Your kennel is clearly guided through love and the gentle hands and sincere care of so many pleasant, competent and informed ladies on the staff. These little dogs even eat first class! Very efficiently organized and relaxed, happy ambiance. No wonder your dogs are so charming.
We're very, very pleased with our pup. Very well socialized, incredibly accepting, sweet natured and fearless. Nothing bothers him.
As a grand-daughter and great-granddaughter of the Fisher & Schwartzkopf (of cosmetics fame) kennels in Germany, I am very impressed with what Americans can accomplish with our German breeds. We will happily recommend your delightful dogs often. Thank you for your conscientious efforts.
From Julie Horner-Blattel [She marveled at our Remington Steel, declaring that in all of her years of participation in and attendance at dog shows, and visiting breeders in Europe and North America, she had NEVER seen one with his coloring. We would love to have her see some of our newest pups, such as the Oprah & Cupid January 2016 litter, shown at right!]

In 2010 we sold Cali (black & tan mottled dapple longhair female, Apricot Brandy & Cash) and Cheyenne (blue & tan smooth female, Blue Sky & Buck) to Sedona Miniature Dachshunds in Australia, and in 2013 we sold AJ (chocolate & tan reverse-dapple LH male, Candy & Rambo) and Aspen (blue & tan reverse-dapple LH female, Fawn & Sparky), flying them "Down Under" in 2014 along with Kiowa, a Candy & Rambo blue & tan reverse-dapple LH female (litter-mate sister to AJ), to another dachshund breeder in Australia.
Please, click on this link to Sedona Miniature Dachshunds to see how our dogs have thrived and produced some spectacular pups for our Aussie friends! Here are some pictures of Kiowa, living now in northeastern Australia, and her first litter of pups:

Hello! I sent you a previous email about our cream puppy, Piper, a while back, but I wanted to let you know how she is doing. Piper is the sweetest and prettiest dachshund we have ever owned and it's such a joy to have her. She is best friends with our six-month-old Great Pyrenees (I know, an odd match) and they play together all of the time! Piper also loves to "tuck us in" at night. When we get in bed she will snuggle vigorously and then sleep at the end of the bed (unless, of course, she gets cold!). I just wanted to send you recent pictures and thank you again for such a wonderful girl! :) ~ Debra and M'Kenzie. [Piper is a daughter of Lucely & Butternutz, born 5/27/14. Texas life seems to suit her quite well!]

I wanted to add to your testimonial page! I am very pleased with my Sophia, from the first day she was very outgoing, curious about her new surrounding. She from day one thought she was a princess and still acts like one today.
I am very pleased with how well socialized she was with people; she doesn't know a stranger and that is very important when it comes to dachshunds. If not socialized, a dachshund can be quite a terror with strangers and almost impossible to try and socialize later.
She is six months and is just a gorgeous little girl and has everyone swooning over her in handling class. Laura even asked if she could show her (maybe she can later on, but I want to give her a try first). She moves gracefully and is very obedient and well mannered in public. In fact, the first class she went to she handled better than most of the adults! I am so excited to start showing her. Her daddy Romeo adores her! I sent you a pic of daddy and daughter Sophia. [Romeo is Champion UKC Doxievilles Loverboy Romeo MLC, with points toward his AKC championship as well.}
Thank you,

Tulip is doing exceptionally well in her retirement home. She is the
BEST dog I have ever brought home - zero accidents, and she's learned to
walk on lead with no tugging on her harness! Tulip is the happiest dog -
her tail is always wagging, she is friendly to her new brother Hooter,
my 10 yr old doxie, and everyone she meets. It is evident that she has
been well socialized and cared for. To anyone looking for a doxie, you
can be assured that Janet's description was very accurate: Tulip is
"spunky and full of love". So true! She enjoys exploring the garden and
naps on my lap. She's discovered the joy of running around after birds
(which, lucky for them, can fly). You should consider one of
Flickennel's older dogs. I can't think of anywhere else to get such a
well- bred, well-behaved and cared for little doggie-friend!
I have to add: Hooter is a shelter dog, purebred, but he came with issues, and I spent a fortune ($100.00 per hour with a trainer!) and a year for him to adapt and be the loving good boy that he is now. This may sound cruel but getting your new adult fur friend from Janet will be a lot easier on you and the dog than getting one from a shelter. Unlike Hooter, Tulip has not been neglected or worse. At 6 yrs old she has never been scolded, never peed in a house and never had her leash yanked at - never left alone in fearful situations. This is why she has
adapted and learned leash and house training in a few days! I realize each dog is different, but just think about that! Also I must mention breeding: if you love a dachshund's funny, brave and sweet disposition, you can be assured that your dog from this kennel is "true to breed" with all the desired characteristics - Janet is a very talented person this way. The hardest thing for me to teach in one of my classes in the concept of "heritability" (having to do with inherited traits), she totally gets! She goes all the way to see that her retired dogs get good
homes - she helped me arrange for a family member to bring Tulip to me as I would have had issues making the drive, and she sent a care package for Tulip with one of her blankets - that Tulip loved to have in her new bed!
Thank you again, Janet! I honestly think that Tulip will rival my beloved Truman to be the "dog of my life."

THANK YOU, CHRIS! WE'RE THRILLED THAT YOU'RE SO PLEASED AND SATISFIED WITH TULIP, AND HOPE YOU HAVE A LONG HAPPY FUTURE TOGETHER.
From our email on 3-10-16: I wanted to give you an update on the [Champagne & Shotgun] puppy we picked up Jan 15, 2016. Bijou is doing really well in the house with the other dogs and I've even taken her to the office a few times. She has the most amazing personality. I'm so happy to be paired with her, and she gets so much love. And you were right about her special blue eye, everyone compliments it and the other stayed a nice dark grey blue. We will definitely contact you when we're looking for our next dachshund in a few years. Adam is dying to have a Black and Tan wirehair so we'll give you plenty of notice when we start thinking about it.
From our email, December 29, 2018:
Dear Janet,
Our beautiful, smooth, black and tan baby girl Anya (Frosty x Elmer) that we took home back in January turned a year old on the 9th of November and we just wanted to let you know how she is doing. In short, she is wonderful! Anya has turned into a gorgeous girl with the shiniest coat we have ever seen and a very bubbly, friendly and outgoing personality. She turns heads and attracts attention wherever she goes. And she is the perfect greeter for customers at our gift store downtown.
As you may recall, two weeks after picking up Anya we came back and adopted 5 year old Blue Bird (Blue Dove x Heineken). That brought our total to four Flick kennel girls. We adopted Tiger Lily and Bonnie back in 2007. Tiger Lily will be 16 in February and Bonnie will be 14 in May. They were both extremely depressed a little over a year ago when we lost our Katrina (another Flick girl) and we were afraid we were going to lose them too. But after the initial shock of having a bouncy 2 month old puppy around they perked right up. Now the four of them are inseparable. Anya is very cautious and respectful when she plays with Tiger Lily and Bonnie and saves all the rough play for Blue Bird.
We are so happy with our all Girl Pack and just wanted you to know. I've attached a few pictures of Anya with her big sister Blue Bird and her two great, great aunts Tiger Lily and Bonnie. You'll see that Blue Bird has adjusted quite nicely. She has her bed right by the heating vent and has decided that all the toys are hers! And one more thing, Anya is one fast Wiener Dog! We are thinking of entering her in the Wiener Dog races next summer!

Hello Janet & Team,
We have had Willy (out of Tootsie Roll x Opie's last litter 4/8) now for going on three months. He has been a wonderful addition to our household and we couldn't be more thankful to have him with us. He is happy, healthy, and full of energy and keeps up with our big dog, Georgia. He definitely has a little attitude and lots of spunk already! Thanks for taking the time to show us around your place and talk to us about your experience. Here are a couple of pictures for your page.
Hope you are all doing well!
P.S. - He did turn out to be wire-haired and we love him even more for it!

My family is in the process of buying our third dachshund from Flick Kennel. Obviously, if I didn't approve of their business or think that they delivered anything but good dogs, we never would have gone back. Yes, Flick Kennel has some unusual business practices, what with their website coordinator living far away and the kennel really being in the sticks. But, it all works. The website coordinator, Becky, and the kennel owner, Janet, have both been fair, honest and up front with me in all of our dealings. While their arrangement is unusual, it works for them and I can attest that it works for the customer. As for the dogs, they have been fantastic. Smart, playful and loving. One had a little gastrointestinal problem when we got her home. I contacted Janet, she recognized the symptoms and told me how to solve the problem. The dog responded right away to Janet's suggested treatment and was great until passing away from a rare disorder at age 7. No one's fault on her death. Stuff happens. For those out of towners who get their dog at the kennel, be prepared for a rural adventure getting there, but Janet gives accurate directions. It's really no big deal. I strongly recommend this kennel. Their business model may not be typical but don't let that scare you. Their dogs are great. Also, they honor those who are serving or have served with a military discount. Wish more businesses did the same. Thanks for that Janet. - Jeffrey F., CAPT, USCG, Ret.
From email, dated 2-18-2019, during our Puppy Love Sweetheart Sale:
Janet & Becky,
Just wanted to say thanks and give you an update.
We got our newest family addition (Daphne) home yesterday and it's like she as been here all her life. She is gorgeous and fully of energy and personality. She has found her FOREVER home!
Thanks again for what you do by sharing such beautiful dachshunds like our new little girl Daphne. You make the world a much better place.
. . . . .
These are pictures this morning of Daphne finding the dog rope toy that belongs to our long hair English cream (Doodles) and taking possession of it.
Bought Daphne for Sandi (my wife) as we lost our brown and tan short hair dachshund (Max) of 15 years to Cushing disease in December.
I haven’t seen Sandi smile and laugh as much as she did when we got Daphne home. Couldn’t replace Max but helped fill a big void in Sandi’s heart in the loss of Max by giving her such an extraordinary dachshund as Daphne.
She is wonderful. And words and pictures couldn’t accurately describe how beautiful Daphne is both physically and personality wise.
The towel is for wet paws from coming in from the snowy outside.
We’ll be getting a deposit in for a long hair (male or female) that has some features like “Cash”, “Remington” or similar dog.
Very respectfully,
Tom & Sandi S.
Thanks, folks, and thank YOU,
Tom, for your service in the
USMC - we're happy to give you
our military SALE discount this
month, and we'll be planning an
extra-special puppy for you!

Hi Becky and Janet,
Leah and I wanted to give you a little update. Schnitzel is the best thing that has ever happened to us. She is such a good little princess. And she will remind you often that she is a princess. She became proficient in the potty pad and crate training within two weeks of coming home! Ear rubs and butt scratches are her favorite. She is getting used to her leash and harness. She hasn't met a face or leg she does not like to lick!
I have attached a couple pictures of our 6.2 lbs (as of her vet visit today) lover girl.
Merry Christmas,
Adam and Leah
Schnitzel is a daughter of Ivy & Boston, born 8-22-19.
An email arrived 3-9-20 that we wanted to share:
Hi, Janet -
It has now been six years since we adopted Heidi and Sugarbaby. They are now 10 and 12, respectively. They are both doing well, but their regular walks that they love so much have become a little difficult, and abbreviated. The answer to that is a doggie buggy, and they’re back to their long “walks” and loving it. These little girls have enriched our lives in so many ways and put a whole new light on retirement. They have been on numerous road trips with us and love riding in the car in their beds. We check on them frequently because they’re so quiet, and stop at Rest Stops to stretch. We just wanted to share with you so you know that all is well.
Sincerely, Jack & Chris
And on 3-12-20, we got another note and picture:
These two precious girls are buds like you’d never believe and are inseparable. They sleep together and play together. Heidi is a very slow eater compared to the vacuum that Sugarbaby is. Sugarbaby sits and watches until Heidi is finally finished, then licks her bowl. She’s so polite. Heidi is the alpha even though 3 pounds lighter. They never contradict one another in any way. They just give love in abundance between themselves and to us. It’s been fun sharing with you.
Thank you so much for updating us on our dear little ladies! We are thrilled to know they're in good hands, and are leading interesting lives with their adoring new family.

Hi Janet!
I just wanted to let you know that it's only been 24 hours since we arrived home with Boysenberry and it's like she has been here forever. She was going in and out of our doggie door by herself within a couple of hours and has yet to have an accident inside. She is the sweetest lap dog of all time and quite the cuddler with the other dogs. You can see from the attached pictures that Vince indeed found a way to get all 4 girls on his lap at the same time. Anya, who is our spoiled baby, is not the least bit jealous. Plus, I would swear that Boysenberry and Doe recognized each other as sisters! I didn't realize until today that they have the same father, Rambo, and both their mothers are Cash girls. . . Fawn for Doe and Candy for Boysenberry. They are beauties! Thank you so much for having such wonderful Wieners! Our family is complete again.

We brought Annie home to Longmont about 5 years ago. Janet, she has been perfect!!! Thought we’d share our special girl she is the Best! Thank You! She's a daughter of Annie Oakley, and I think she may be Anna’s sister. We could not be happier with Annie: a sweet loving personality, easily house trained and never has had accidents, she loves people, and her morning walks each day! She keeps those darn squirrels out of my flower garden. That’s her job and she takes it very serious. Our vet says she is a perfect specimen of a long haired dachshund. We have had ramps for her since she was little to ensure her good health. Since we are retired we are home each day to spoil her and she travels with us too! Her groomer is mobile and comes to our home regularly to groom her. Yes, she has the BEST life! We love her with all our hearts💕Rita and Rick, Longmont, CO.
5/23/20 - Our inbox is busy these days!
Penny has brought joy not only to me and my boyfriend, but my entire family. When I left home with her, they went out to get three more Dachshunds of their own. We're returning Flicksters (I would easily say they're the best entertainment) and are so excited to get Penny reacquainted with her family.
Penny was my first official puppy from the day she was 8 weeks old and I'm so glad I'll be with her for all her life. Thank you for making me a dachshund fanatic.

Yes, Annie is a daughter of Annie Oakley & Sam, and is a littermate sister of Anna, another of our mamas who just had a litter of puppies on 5/14/20. We're always thankful when we get to see pictures of our happy doxies and their adoptive families!

Hi Janet!
I just wanted to reach out and say Thank you for giving me my best friend! My Rodger. He has been my everything, my best friend, my true soul mate from the time I met him!!
Rodger and I used to live in Pueblo Colorado but we now live in Las Vegas in a very big home with a huge back yard and garden for him to enjoy. ❤️ He was by my side all through middle school, all through high school, and all through college and STILL is by my side 10 years later. I just wanted to share with you some pictures of me and Rodger to thank you for bringing him into the world.
You know when I first met Rodger, it was after seeing a lot of puppies at age 12 and loving them all and wanting to take them ALL home, haha! But after seeing about 4-6 puppies Rodger was the last. I knew he was my soul mate when he looked at me (we locked eyes) and he laid his head down and cuddled right up next to me - and that was it! That was the moment I KNEW he was gonna be my buddy! The couple hour drive back down to Pueblo he stayed by my side and slept and cuddled with me the whole entire ride home. Just like he did when we first met. We have been inseparable since. Thank you so much! Ten years and counting! He is in very good health and I pray he will be for many years to come. ❤️🤞🏽🙏🏼
In the doxie-mail box on July 20, 2020:
Hi Janet,
We've had our little guy, Oscar, for just over a week. We adore him so much!
He is such a GOOD boy! He rarely has an accident - he knows when to go potty outside and is so well behaved in his crate. He's very social and affectionate and so fun to play with, too!
Anyone who meets him falls in love - he's photographed all the time by random strangers! He's just so stinkin' cute!
Thank you, again, for being such a great breeder - you can tell there is a lot of love and care that goes into these puppies!
We hope you and all the pups are doing well!
Best regards,
Aimee, Adam, Mia, Max & Oscar

Hi Janet and all the wonderful people at Flickennel! Roger and I thought you would enjoy a few pictures of Ginger (Jill’s and Tanner’s 1F).
Ginger has settled nicely into her new home. She definitely knows she’s the baby. She already has a basket of toys that she enjoys. The pictures are:
1. Ginger in our backyard.
2. Ginger with her 16 1/2 year old Jack Russell sister, Turbo.
3. Ginger with her 8 year old Chihuahua sister, Tina.
4. Ginger with our 11 month old grand puppy, Mabel.
We hope you enjoy the pictures, and will continue to share Ginger’s life in pictures with you as she grows. She is everything we dreamed she would be, and more!

We cannot even express how much love and joy our little guy Luke has brought to our family. He has been the perfect addition. Luke is our perfect “scratch and dent”!
Thank you! He is perfect and we love him dearly. Our precious, Hope, was able to help train him before she passed at 15 years old.
We wanted to share some pictures of him.
We are on the look out for a new sister for him...hoping to get another Flickennel Addition in the future!
Can’t believe he is 9 months old!

Hi, Janet - Here’s a picture of Sugarbaby on
her 13th Birthday today [Dec. 3, 2020]. We
adopted her when she was six. The seven

companion, Heidi, are worth pure gold.
Looking forward to many more. Our two

special buddies. Both are very happy and
healthy. Have a Merry Christmas.

The mail-doxie brought us the following note and photos from Jacob B., who bought Sissy & Reese's black & cream boy, born 10-14-20:
Hello Janet and Becky!
I wanted to reach out just to say how happy we are with our little Finlay, Sissy’s little underbite boy. He has such a personality, so sweet and smart and obedient. We are head over heels in love. Thank you so much for everything you did that led him to us. Here are some recent pictures of him, with his big siblings Olivia and Elliot. His underbite (or smile we call it) just makes him that much more funny and special! . . . Olivia is the dapple wire hair. Yes, she is a dachshund but we think the milk man was a terrier mix, ha! She doesn’t quite have the classic doxie nose and ears. Elliot is the white fluffy guy, his mom's a piebald white/red dachshund and dad is a poodle, a doxie poo! They are just the cutest trio and Finlay is the perfect #3!
We can’t thank you enough!
Jacob B
PS - the first one is of him begging, he lays down, looks up and shows those teeth because he knows how to make us melt!
Thank you, Jacob -
and your woofpack!

Hi Janet, today is Remi and Reesa's 2nd birthday. I wanted you to know we have been so blessed to have them! They are both such a joy to everyone in our family and so cute together. We love them so much! Thanks again for talking us into also taking Reesa [the red brindle]. I can't imagine my life without her. ~ Marina M.
July 6, 2021 - "Auggie will be 7 months old this week! [Born Dec 8, 2020.] I can't believe how much we love him and wonder why we waited so long. He is the cutest puppy ever! He's strong and smart and very entertaining. Everyone says how much they love his color. He is still a puppy and still learning, so he keeps us on our toes, but I can't imagine life without him now." - Shevawn V.

We came to Flickennel one year ago today to pick up our adopted furbaby, Isabella (a.k.a. Baby Bell, Bella, and Bella Trix . . . depending on how she is behaving). Since then, this little bundle of fur has traveled across the U.S. twice with us to visit my family in Pennsylvania, gone to the family farm in Indiana and captured both families' hearts. She has gone camping and hiking, chases rabbits and voles, has caught several mice, demands to swim in the pool with us, and tells us when we are to go to bed.
She is smaller than we had anticipated; however, in true dachshund form, she has taken over the house, terrorizes and bosses around our 7 year old dachshund Gizmo (whom we also adopted from Flickennel), and has become the queen of our world. In other words, she is the size of a Doberman in attitude and heart!
Thank you for breeding the most incredible dachshunds. They are beautiful, sweet, tenacious, cute and goofy little clowns. We are so happy that we found you and our babies!
Bella and Gizmo send their love and a bunch of licks and kisses!
Hugs,
The Ripple Family
In our January 27, 2024 email:
Hi Janet and Happy New Year to you,
Just wanted to thank you again for our little girl Coco Chanel (formerly Prada) as she just turned 4 on January 2. She is all we expected and much, much more! A little love bug she has turned out to be and she so enjoys getting attention, hearing her name and what a good girl she is and just being loved. She loves her soft bed, her food and her good friend, Cash. Over the past year, they have spent lots of time outside in our back yard snooping and chasing each other. Coco has certainly helped Cash lose a bit of weight and get in better shape to chase her. Cash loves to devil Coco but she gives it right back to him as she takes NO lip from him. And isn't that the way it should be! We're so happy she wasn't able to have any more babies (much to your dismay) but we think she is truly a gift from God.
Our old guy, Banjo, who we got from you in the Spring of 2009, just turned 15 the end of December. He is still going strong despite being almost blind. He knows the house and back yard and doesn't go very fast but he is still so good about going outside to do his business. He is a true couch potato at this point in his life and that is how it should be. We love him dearly and cherish every day we still have with Banjo.
Once again, thank you so much for Coco and Banjo. We love Flickennel! Take care.

This is Jewel, adopted in December 2016, born November 1, 2010 at Flick Kennels. She was one of your “Rocking Chair Retirees.” She is celebrating her 14th birthday today! We love her dearly, and she is still spunky and fun. She loves sunbathing (in Arizona, no less), and digging into her favorite pile of blankets on the couch. Such a beautiful girl!

This note came November 6, 2024:
This is Dexter. He was born June 14, 2013 [to Flickennel dogs Princess & Rowdy]. I call him handsome at least once a day. He’s surrounded [at our house] by his fur siblings: Dachshund brother, sister Aussie mix, Mainecoon cat, two domestic cats, guinea pigs, and chickens. Oh and human sisters. He likes belly rubs, lounging on the back of the couch, camping, sleeping, eating, car rides and mommy snuggles. He’s got the good life. --- Kelsey B.
